The youth trip to Washington was a great success! The youth visited The Capitol, Air and Space Museum, Natural History Museum, Holocaust Museum, Smithsonian Zoo, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and last but not least our National Cathedral. A particular museum that had a profound affect on all who went on this trip was the Holocaust museum. There some of the youth were able to meet and listen to stories from Elly Gross a holocaust survivor of the most terrible concentration camp in Germany, Auschwitz. The trip was a great learning experience and gave all the youth a chance to get to know one another better and bond as a group. After having been on this trip I truly believe that our youth group is more tight knit than ever.
The excitement never ends with St. Paul's youth. Coming up is a great back to school lock-in! More information will be sent in our newsletter this upcoming week. Youth meetings will resume on Wednesday July 25, 2007 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. As always we will have dinner, a short Bible study and hang out! We encourage all youth ages
13-18 to attend our youth meetings and become a part of the best youth group in Baldwin County! Brainstorming has already begun about an even bigger trip next summer, so encourage your youth to attend the meetings and sign up for our newsletter to get all the latest information!
There will be a presentation of the video made on the Washington D.C. trip on Sunday July 29, 2007 after both services in Malone Hall. Coffee and donuts will be provided. I want everyone to see first hand what a great time the youth had on this trip.
I would again like to thank St. Paul's Thrift shop and all who work there for making this trip possible for the youth. You will never know how much it meant for the youth to be able to learn about and experience our nations capitol. Additionally, I want to thank everyone in the church who has given to the youth group by sponsoring youth, cooking, volunteering etc. I could go on and on about everyone who helped make this trip possible and continues to help the youth group in so many ways. After all, our youth are the future!
